Everything is better when its exclusive and has awesome views.
On a weekend visit to New York with my fiance we chose to stay at The Standard Hotel Highline. We had previously arranged to meet up with his friend Kyle who had been coaching football in New Jersey for the past 7 months. On arrival at the hotel the concierge reserved us a table in The Standard Roof Top Bar for the Saturday night and sorted us out with some guest passes to a couple of night clubs for after. Saturday during the day we went to the baseball and after 2 hours searching for a cab in the Bronx we were obviously running late for our table reservation for the Rooftop bar.
Once we finally got back to the hotel the boys took a tad, sorry I mean much longer than I did to get ready, so being the super impatient person that I am I headed up to the bar to wait on them. By the time the elevator had reached the top floor I had made a new friend who ended up joining me for drinks till the boys arrived. Apparently he was meeting friends and he had been turned away at the door as he didn’t know what name the reservation had been made under. Anyway, I seen an opportunity to have a drinking companion while the boys finished choosing which white shirt to wear and invited him to join me till his friends arrived.
Several cocktails and gin and tonics later I ditched the boys and went to bed. The boys even although clearly devastated I couldn’t keep up the pace powered onto the rooftop pool without me. I don’t think they remember much apart from the photo the took followed by a visit to the grill downstairs for a nap on the table. Sunset cocktails, rooftop pool drinking and a place to eat and lay your head at the end of night what more can you ask for in the one building?
